Life with a Full House
January always feels like a race around here, but it’s the kind of chaos we wouldn’t trade for anything. Coming off a whirlwind December with two birthdays and a flurry of Christmas celebrations, we roll straight into the new year at full speed.
Broomball season is in full swing, and with six out of the eight of us playing—some on multiple teams—our weekends are booked solid. We’ve already powered through two tournaments, totaling 16 games (yes, 16!), with plenty more to come. Between early mornings, late nights, and hours spent racing across the ice in our broomball shoes, it feels like we’re living out of equipment bags these days.
But life doesn’t pause just because we’re busy. The chickens still need tending, the pets demand their share of love and care, and snowstorms have us out shoveling the driveway like it’s our part-time job. Keeping up with housework and making the fresh bread my crew counts on has become a game of “what can I squeeze in before the next game?”
Despite the hustle, I’m finding little pockets of time to plan for the weeks ahead. I’m excited to try making cottage cheese (because why not?), crochet some dishcloths, and experiment with bumping up meal prep for my fiancé’s carnivore diet. It’s all about balancing the busyness with those small wins that make life feel just a little more manageable.
The best part, though, is the time we’re spending together. Whether it’s road-tripping to tournaments, laughing over snacks between games, or sharing that triumphant feeling after a hard-earned win, these moments are what keep us going. They remind us that even in the chaos, there’s so much joy to be found. And if you’re at the arena, you’ll know where to find me: the loudest cheerleader in the stands, pom-poms optional.
Here’s to embracing the madness and making memories that last a lifetime. January may be a blur, but it’s a beautiful one!
