Oh man, what a weekend! It was a little bit of relaxation mixed with a lot of busyness. We spent the weekend camping, and the kids decided to stay home (yay, free chicken sitters!). It gave my fiancé and me some much-needed alone time, camping with my parents and enjoying the quiet…well, sort of!
Friday night didn’t exactly start smoothly. We ran into some plumbing problems back at home, and since all the stores were closed, we had no choice but to shut the water off for the night. That meant a Saturday morning drive back to town to pick up the parts to fix the issue. While we were at it, we had to tackle the three-day event I now refer to as “The Brake Saga.” My vehicle’s rear brake caliper seized, and the emergency brake on the same side decided to join the party. With my manual transmission, those repairs weren’t optional, and it turned into quite the struggle. Thankfully, Dad stepped in to lend a hand, and we managed to get it all fixed up.
But amidst the chaos, there were some beautiful moments. My favorite part of the weekend? The wind-down time. Wandering through the bush, collecting wild herbs and flowers, and just soaking in nature. There’s something so peaceful about sitting by the campfire, sharing stories, and enjoying conversations with the people you love most.
Of course, Sunday brought us back to reality with grocery shopping, laundry catch-up, and getting back into the daily grind. But that little weekend escape—plumbing issues, brake repairs, and all—was a reminder that even when life throws some wrenches into the mix, there’s always a moment to pause, reflect, and relax. And after all that? I’m already looking forward to the next camping adventure!
